Design, purpose[edit]

Started at Commons_talk:Requests_for_comment/galleries#Confused

"discussions on policies, guidelines or other matters that have a wide impact and on which a broad consensus is needed" is stated on Commons:Centralized discussion.

Maybe the design of {{cent}} is not as good(?) as de:Vorlage:Beteiligen? Only the first line (Meinungsbilder) and in the last (Stewardwahlen) is important - the remaining is not really. One may participate but would not miss to "cast his vote" (kind of) if he does not. Once the RFCs were translated with "Meinungsbilder" (in cent) - but apparently they are more like de:WP:PRD (long term discussions).

So I feel that cent does not really fit it's purpose if such unfinished discussions like Commons:Requests_for_comment/galleries are advertised. There is no proposal, no vote, just gathering opinions of the people who participate and nothing will be decided soon. Due to the way the cent template is designed (lightwight, small) there is not much room for some kind of classification. Just maybe some kind of icon could be used. just after the "*". Sorry, I've decided to have a wikibreak due to RL work pressures. I'll come back to this in due course - I've added it to my todo list. Rd232 (talk) 16:47, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
No, problem. Best wishes! --Saibo (Δ) 17:40, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
...well, some of them are more like long-term discussions, others are more concrete proposals that need wider coverage (like whether COM:REVDEL should be policy). I'm not quite sure what you're suggesting, other than using icons. Rd232 (talk) 05:16, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

What about using some icons like {{Info| }}Pictogram voting info.svg  (example for more or less "info" messages, if they should be here) right after the bullet point? --Saibo (Δ) 17:40, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

I like icons (COM:ICON...), so if we can find some suitable ones, sure. Rd232 (talk) 05:16, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

RFC concerning naming of Palestine and Palestinian territories[edit]

{{edit protected}} Can an admin please add a link to Template:Centralized discussion for this discussion:

Elsewhere[edit]

The nutshell description says: "Announcements and local or topic specific discussions are usually not appropriate for this template." Where should these other things go? Probably should say, so readers aren't left with no idea where else to try. - dcljr (talk) 08:22, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

Edit request[edit]

I've just started Commons:Requests for comment/Hosting files for 3D models. Can it be listed here? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 06:51, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, nobody saw that here, but your RFC will get its 30 days.:-) The cent stuff is all manual DIY, the inventor is listed on COM:MISS.:-(Be..anyone (talk) 23:10, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Images of all subcategories of a given category[edit]

Hi, I would to see all the images of Category:Mythological paintings. By this, I mean also the images of subcategories. I can't find how to do it. How can I do?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.231.103.102 (talk • contribs)

Hi, that's the talk page for the design of Commons:Centralized discussion, so we're wrong here. For general questions check out the Commons:Help desk. There are subcategories in Category:Mythological paintings, you have to visit them (click on it) to see them. –Be..anyone (talk) 22:53, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Fossil categories[edit]

After a recent discussion, all fossil categories will not be moved per[1], so please do not revert out of confusion, as some have already done. FunkMonk (talk) 19:37, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

  • Is there anywhere to announce this so many users will see it? FunkMonk (talk) 19:37, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
