Permission for pictures related to Swamp Works article?[edit]

Hi Ronhjones, Can you clarify for me what kind of permission I need for the figures that were deleted from Draft:Swamp Works? I had replied to every picture's request for permission. They are all NASA photographs taken by NASA photographers on official duty, so they all fall under the NASA use policy and are all OK to use. Some were deleted and some were not, but I don't know what made the difference. I would like to find out so I can get the deleted ones restored. Do you know? Thank you for any help you can give. Permission for pictures related to Martin von Hase article?[edit]

Hi Ronhjones, thanks a lot for your message concerning the pictures related to the Martin von Hase-article. I have all rights for the respective files (he was my grandfather and all rights are with us) and just sent an email to permissions-commons. I hope that this request will be processed quickly so that no doubts concerning the pictures should remain.

Best

The OTRS team will undelete any deleted images once they have verified the permission. Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:34, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

User_talk:Martin_Fiedler[edit]

Thank you for your annotations. There will not be any confirmation of the rights within 7 days, because the author / possessor of the photos himself (Ivo Ingram Beikircher aged 81 years and not very healthy at the moment, a member of the family concerned with the articles) has sent them to me from there private family archives. Family archives cannot be treated like other sources, so you will have to accept this like it is. I wonder much about the often very offending words that are used from so-called supervisors and others treating well-merited scholars like foolish little children. I had accepted to put these articles on wikipedia because I thought that there was a certain interest to contribute to enlargement of knowledge about people of passed times who were connected, as is visible from the articles, to important contemporanean politics and so on. Another article that had to be improved - the annotation is not by you - was corrected in time. The quotation of improving the article with a one word order ("Vollprogramm") is widely out of range what I personally know from scientific publications, it is merely disgusting.

Nevertheless I will contact Mr Beikircher and molest him for what you asked for. It is a nongracious act that you have to take for your own.

File:Cereal Field At Sunrise (199200911).jpeg[edit]

Commons:500px licensing data, obviously they will not have a CC-tag, they remove the function from it. And saying that was a "clear copyvio" was a fallacious speech. The website have linked its 500px account, is not copyvio have the work spread across medias. You should check this things before deleting... -- Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 02:13, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

@Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton: It was tagged by user:Stepro, not me. I saw nothing wrong with his rationale. You are always free to try COM:UDR if you think otherwise. Ronhjones  (Talk) 13:48, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
When you delete something, you attest the argument, that's why deletion have to people evolved, you must read and verify if it is a correct allegation or not. How two people are unable to see that was imported by a tool that verifies license and is part of importation project?
You are always free to try to undo your mistake. -- Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 15:25, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
I answered on the UDR page. --Stepro (talk) 17:59, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

deleted James R. Johnsen photo[edit]

Greetings, please explain why you deleted the upload of the photograph of James R. Johnsen. Thanks.AnaSoc (talk) 02:09, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

@AnaSoc: Don't think it was me...
  • 08:24, 17 May 2018 Túrelio deleted page File:James R. Johnsen.jpg (Copyright violation: no evidence of free license, and state university website content isn't automatically public domain)
Ronhjones  (Talk) 02:14, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
ah, yes, I did see that. I'm a relatively new user, so still do not know how to interpret stuff. But then you deleted the file https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dr._Jim_Johnsen.jpg, right? Could you kindly explain why? Thanks for your work.AnaSoc (talk) 02:44, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
@AnaSoc:Ah that's easy - only one upload allowed - "19:58, 28 August 2018 Ronhjones deleted page File:Dr. Jim Johnsen.jpg (Previously deleted file File:James R. Johnsen.jpg)" and the note I put User_talk:Mmusick says how to request undeletion of the original image. Ronhjones  (Talk) 15:03, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

WHY did you delete my picture LIGHT-GaelAymon.07.2018.EHautier-17r.jpg ???[edit]

Why do you keep deleting my pictures although we've already sent permissions forms to commons? this is really annoying. (Retrait du lien LIGHT-GaelAymon.07.2018.EHautier-17r.jpg, supprimé sur Commons par Ronhjones ; motif : In category [[:category:Media_missing_permission_as_of_23_August_20)

Because it was a re-upload of a deleted file. You can only upload once. The original file has been undeleted and a {{OTRS pending}} template added - without the template, editors do not know you have sent in the permission. - File:GaelAymon.07.2018.EHautier-17.jpg Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:43, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

file:Meghana_image.png[edit]

Hello, iam replying for the that file Meghana_image.png which you have said that it was the copyright violation. Iam the copyright holder of that image (username:meghanayadav26)who uploaded it on flickr. I have changed the picture copyrights to public domain. So, I you think it is not the copyright violation please remove the template you have entered.

@Meghanamaggie395: We prefer a CC license for commons. You have not added a flickr link on the image page. Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:38, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

Deletion of main profile image (Ning Cai, Author)[edit]

Hi Rohnjones,

@Themagicbabeningcai: I would like to enquire why does the image I upload to my wiki page keeps getting deleted. I have express permission from the photographer for it's usage so do advise me how do I go about uploading an image successfully. Thanks in advance.

The copyright holder needs to go to COM:CONSENT to donate the copyright and have their identity verified by the OTRS team. Once that has been done the OTRS team will undelete the image. Ronhjones  (Talk) 15:17, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

Re: Deletion requests/File:Vija Beinerte photo.jpg[edit]

Hi, Rohnjones, Sorry for delay. The author of the photo is photographer Valts Kleins. Elena Spasova is a retoucher. Both Valts Kleins and Elena Spasova have been paid for their work and have allowed me to use this photo publicly. What should I do to have the photo published in Wiki? Looking forward to your reply! Best regards, Vija

File:Masjid ibne khuldon.jpg Picture Permission[edit]

I have taken picture of image in a locally published book "Ibne Khaldoon" , translation of ph.d thesis of Dr Taha Hussain written in french. The thesis was then translated in arabic under Dr. Taha hussain supervision. The translation of arabic book was further translated in urdu almost a hundred years ago. There is no source mentioned of any picture in the book, so i cannot write the name of original source. Book is published by book corner jhelum publishers.

Their website is Book Corner Jhelum.

@Mohibalvi: Typically we would expect the publisher of a book to own the copyright of a book cover. I note their site shows "All Rights Reserved" Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:57, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

File:2018_G7_Logo_CYMK.jpg Disagreement on the deletion of the image file[edit]

I disagree with your decision to delete a file and ask for reconsideration.

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:2018_G7_Logo_CYMK.jpg

As mentioned,

On April 10, 2018, according to the copyright terms and conditions, I made an official request to the Summits Management Office. The approval has been given by Frederique Fortin | Summits Management Office | frederique.fortin@international.gc.ca | Office: 343-203-5184

@Jfweemaes: You have to arrange for the copyright holder to go to COM:CONSENT to donate the copyright and have their identity verified by the OTRS team. Once that has been done the OTRS team will undelete the image. We do not chase the copyright holder for you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:26, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

@Spacenerd149: We need to know that they are NASA. They need a link to the image on NASA's site. Just start undeletion requests on COM:UDR and state the link needed. Without a link we cannot verify that they are NASA images.

Looks like the last one was my error - sorry, I'll fix that, I think I must have viewed the other two first and assumed that was the same. Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:00, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
