- Hello, thanks for your notice. I found this file there : http://www.wpclipart.com/geography/crater/Niuafo'ou_crater_lake__Tonga.jpg.html
- The author, Paul Sherman, claims it is a "Public Domain jpeg image". It is stated again in the Terms of use section of his website that the pictures are Public Domain.
- However, it seems that this is a retouched version of this picture : Satellite view of Niuafo'ou, 2005-03-19, already present on Commons. It has been taken by the International Space Station Crew on March 19th 2003, and it is public domain (at least in the US). (Look at the little clouds in the lower left corner for instance, they are the same on both pictures). Therefore, would'nt a retouched version of this picture be also in the Public Domain ? - @Magog the Ogre: Hi! Actually, I was also unsure of the copyright status of these maps. I have found the same justifications for three other files, extracted from the same collection: File:Futuna alofi.jpg, File:Uvea wallis island.jpg and File:Niuatoputapu tafahi tonga.jpg. They all come from the University of Texas Library, taken from the book "Pacific Islands", Geographical Handbook Series, Great Britain. Admiralty. Naval Intelligence Division, 1943-1945.
- On this file, the public domain is justified by "This artistic work created by the United Kingdom Government is in the public domain (...) It was commercially published prior to 1965", which seems to be the case for all the aforementioned files. Skimel (talk) 08:42, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
- You can remove the template and mark the image with the license once you have an appropriate one. The license appears correct to me from the information that you've provided and that I've seen. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:23, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

The project is a celebration of the visual diversity of Africa on Wikipedia and its sister projects. There are several fun ways you can help us to make the impact of Wiki Loves Africa stronger:
- Add more categories to your images so that people will find them to use them in articles ... you can see how to do this here: Quick Guide to Categories on Commons
- Add your image to a relevant Wikipedia article, i.e. if your image shows a tailor sewing, then add the image to an article on Sewing or Tailors - this allows readers to see different global perspectives of a universal subject. You can see how to do this here: How to insert images into Wikipedia using WikiText
- Improve the images description to make them easier to understand and reuse.
- If there is no article that reflects the subject of your images, then start an article about that subject. If you are a new editor, you can see how to do that here: Creating your first article
- Add more images - you can add more images or media that reflect interesting and encyclopedic subjects in your immediate community.
- Become involved in (or start) your local Wikimedia community groups - it is a lot of fun, and is important! Find the existing groups here: Wikimedia groups across Africa

In File:Désintégration du califat abbasside.svg can you remove the de-facto borders within Moldova (Transnistria) and Georgia (Abkhazia and South Ossetia), and include only de-jure borders, just like Serbia, Western Sahara and Cyprus are shown in the same map?

The Wiki Loves Africa 2017 photographic contest is officially closed. Thank you all for your participation !
This year, the photographic competition has resulted in an amazing 18,294 image uploads to Commons around the theme People at Work.
International winners have been announced !!! Check it out on Commons:Wiki Loves Africa 2017/Winners. Congratulations to winners and all those who participated and organised events. More national winners are yet to be announced.

There are several fun ways you can help us to make the impact of Wiki Loves Africa stronger:

Dans le cadre de l’émission quotidienne « Les Témoins d’Outre-Mer » diffusée sur France Ô, nous souhaitons nous intéresser aux photographes et à leurs œuvres lors du concours photo organisé par Wikimédia France.
Nous souhaitons vous donner la parole pour nous raconter leurs histoires !
