After seeing chickenparmis recent RepRap lecture I was inspired to do something to spread the 3D gospel  \o/

I talk about 3D printing to some people and when they're interested it's kind of hard to convey exactly what they are and what they do so I decided to make a simple site that may help explain the machines without being bogged down with a lot of technical stuff.

For now it's just some video links to members youtube uploads but I'd like to expand it to include some owner bios and a little info about the machines. Several folks here also have "store bought" machines and I'd like to include some info about them as well.

If anyone wants to be included or objects to having videos used then please let me know. I'm using LMR usernames with links back here for more detailed info.

If anyone wants to help out with setting the site up or archiving stuff just let me know.

Hi. Is there anybody in England that would be able to print me the upper body of darwin. How much would it cost.

Thanks in advance

Matt

Give me a couple off days to do a test printhttp://www.thingiverse.com/thing:9793 see how its prints. concern it may not actaully  match up with the back you already have. But can only print and see.

Hi mate.

The project idea is a cross between darwin and my rover 5 chassis hopefully if the print is a success im going to build a frame around the darwin parts. I will have the main board on the back of the darwin and the rest in the rover 5.

For the darwin bit I need the arms, body, head and the sub frame that connects them all together. The link has all the parts there.

How much would you like for them.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

hi Matt,

There's  a few hurdles to printing Darwin, first is the file on thingie is all wrong only one bracket appears to be to scale after that

like the head and other parts are not to  scale and  only measures 8mm!.http://www.netfabb.com/ install netfabb you be able to view the files. only the bracket that was to scale and  the wall are only 2mm thick and tht is the  start of some weak prints. then theirs not a part that is printable without support that alone leave a hell off chore to remove from a succesful print.. so in short am not setup to print the parts. maybe in a couple of mths. but even then it want be cheap fillament alone would cost close to £80 as I have to use two types of filament HIPS "desolvable fila"for the supports and ABS for the part after the desolving  the support then giving the part a actone bath to smooth the ABS would take me months to perfects,, Darwin is a labour of love so dont buy a couple of the $220.00 each servo and build this http://www.emakershop.com/browse/listing?l=964.. sorry I cant be off more help.

I'm a fan of the Rapman's replacement brackets on Thingiverse. I don't have any experience printing the legit darwin parts, but the Rapman knockoffs are brilliant!
