Making one of the OggBots

A Real Life Sci-Fi Adventure for young inventors! – Brighton Digital Festival

Getting young people into electronics isn’t hard, but it definitely requires imagination, patience and a ruddy good story.

As winners of this years Brighton Digital Festival’s education commission, we’ve created a real life science fiction movie across the streets of Brighton called, Project: OggBots! Working with immersive theatre experts, Roots Experience, we’ve devised a family friendly story full of mystery and intrigue that challenge kids to solve the riddle of an alien crash landing in central Brighton.

Chased by a shady government organisation, the tale unfolds through actors, digital signposts and live performance as participants gather the electronic components needed to bring the ‘OggBots’ back to life. At each stage they’ll learn about batteries, circuits and electrons, all within the confines of a tightly woven story of galactic proportions!

Events like this, can get young people thinking about how electronics fit into our daily lives and by turning it into a story, we can spark their imagination – probably the most essential part of inventing!

This all takes place on the 20th / 21st September on the streets of Brighton, starting from a secret central location. Be prepared to walk, run and play for about an hour.

Entrance is totally free, but limited – so click to register.
