For the sides I am just going to use MDF. I might make MDF cage with a small acrylic window.

Well I will try to get it done soon. But be warned I am just getting started on this build so I am still waiting for all my parts to come in.
I am thinking I will just put in thin plastic walls on most of it and then go acrylic on a door/latch
If that is the case you might see if @Robert Hummel would send you his plate design. it combines the gantry plate, motor mount and laser mount.
I do not have a machine that can cut it out.

I ordered a 2W 445nm M140 Blue Laser Diode I just searched Ebay for the best price from a reputable vendor. I will be running it from 1.0 to 1.5...
No need to change out the Laser. There is a Voltage adjustment on the LD2X and it will add life to the diode to run it at a lower power than it is...
