I have noticed that many of us here like model building and home made stuff.

As a child in the 70's we used to fly control line planes.
Your opponent & you would stand in the middle of a circle and fly your model around chasing each others tails.
When you got behind him, the tail / ribbon would be ripped off with the prop.

Now i for one are to old to spin in circles.

Why not automate the middle part and control via linear actuators. Yes old school wires.

    A easy to build.
    B no interference.
C you don't fall over when you get dizzy!

The planes can be electric or glow plug and they can fly in either direction.

Just an idea from my inner child.

Very interesting idea. I think you should give it a try maybe even programming a pre-defined flight plan into one or both of the models ?

If i had money i would.

Would make a nice school project for the kids, getting maybe like 8 planes in formation dancing around.

    I am an idea man.

That's why i have no FIAT currency.
    I am OK with that.
I want to share my life & ideas with people. :)

I LIKE YOU HAVE VALUE, EVEN IF IT IS SMALL, ITS VALUE.

Eight kids could control one servo that is used to make the plane go up/down.
Still control line, but wired remote control line.
Or maybe WiFi as this gets around the spinning centre post issue.

9g servo would do the job.

One linear actuator controlled by teacher/operator up/down.
    Take off, flight and land.

This is an easy set-up for any experienced model builder.
I think control lines only use one axis, maybe my memory has gone, feedback required.

It's a nice idea but, as far as children are concerned, it would almost certainly not be allowed under the H&SE regulations unless the models were contained in a wire cage. I can just imagine the cost and specification for such a cage making it well beyond the budget of most, if not all.

I do RC pylon racing and we have all been wearing hard hats for years but nowadays the UK regulations are starting to completely stifle the spectator aspects of many sports / hobbies.

Red tape spoils all the fun these days, next they will be telling us we cannot have guns!
Its a new industry another stealth TAX H&SE.

Glad i don't have any money to build this FUN folly then. Just another idea, burnt like the UK!:D
