Description:
Texas Instruments TPS2514 USB Dedicated Charging Port Controller adapter board.
Uses the TPS2514 (SOT-23-6 package), a 0.1µF 0603-size ceramic capacitor, and a USB Type A female through-hole connector. Holes for +5V and GND will accept up to 20-ga wire.
This board will charge most popular portable devices (phones, tablets, media players, etc.) from any 5V source that’s capable of delivering 2+ amps. See the datasheet for portable device compatibility specs.
The TPS2514 is available in single quantity at Digi-Key.
Tested/working with iPhone 3GS & iPad 4.
NOTE: Use caution if you connect this to your bench supply. Ensure your supply is set to no more than 5.25V before you apply power. One mistake setting the output voltage may brick the TPS2514 and your portable device!
UPDATE: The TPS2514 supports Apple’s 10-watt charging scheme. For a full 12-watt charge with Apple’s newest devices, use Texas Instruments' new TPS2514A.
