This workshop is part of the Graphics Lab, a project aimed at picture retouching to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. This specific page is the requests page for the Illustration Workshop. Anyone can make a request for an illustration to be created or improved. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

Coat of Arms from .png to .svg

Request

Hi! I would be very grateful if someone could turn this image from the current .png to a scalable .svg. It doesn't need to have the shiney bits, if this causes too much trouble to anyone. This is a big ask, and may need it's own Wikiproject, Thanks to a request I put into the Department of Transport I was able to get a set of EPS files, being the figures in the Traffic Signs Manual. These are very slowly being uploaded to the category mentioned. However, the EPS->SVG conversion isn't perfect, and some rendering fixes had to be applied, which is why it is taking time to get the full set uploaded.

I am in need of some more experienced graphists famiar with EPS and SVG to help review and quality control the files uploaded so far.

Some problems I've personally identified so far are :

• Border elements that have been recombined from single EPS path elements.
• Unclosed paths.
• Font substitutions (for Commmons/Wikisource rendering issues.)

There is only so much a single volunteer can do, and I would appreciate this being a community effort.

Context

Wikimedia Sverige's project Connected Open Heritage (COH) aims to bring cultural heritage data onto Wikidata, and images of cultural heritage onto Wikimedia Commons. We especially focus on cultural heritage that is at risk globally. The logo will be used in brochures, on roll-ups, on templates on Commons and on project pages on different wikis. Create a visually pleasing representation of the project name Connected Open Heritage with a CC0 license so that it easily can be used to promote the project. Preferably in svg so that it easily can be scaled for various use. Hi @Markov, unfortunately the terms in French are too long in number of letters as well in terms of typesetting. That would be not different in German, but I omitted to the words „epoch“ and „era“ in my translation. Hi, MagentaGreen, really nice work for the german version ! Is it possible, in french, to :

• keep "ÈRE "
• omit "PÉRIODE DU " or "PÉRIODE DE L'"
• keep "Époque " ?

In German, you wrote NEOGEN instead of KARBON (on -359 line), should omit -318, and you forgot Paläozän and Eozän (on the right)

I suggest to make all files in one multi-language with the fix. @Menner: I raised only the coords of the radialGradient to fix, very strange (PS @Menner: I found also another new bug with mask and clones on other file, please don't purge :P). ↔ User: Perhelion 09:28, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
