haha thanks man. Now i just need to find an adaptor so i can use 1/8 collets in my 1/4 trim router. I need to use bits that are smaller than 1/8 at the cutting end. Also what would you guys use to cut g 10 material. Thanks

    Mopar,

After watching your video can I suggest that you try reducing the Acceleration (in motor tuning) for your Y axis.

You don't have to explain!!! We've been there, we've done it and we've bought the T-Shirt! [IMG]

Congrats and good luck, my man!

I'm bummed, all the 20x60 is gone from the store.

Also I'm not happy with the eccentric spacers in my design. They are some wacky mix of metric and SAE units which is frustrating. I wish I could just get rid of them entirely...

They must have found some 60x20 in the back of the shop. I put in my order for parts.

I did not order any eccentric spacers. I've seen a number of designs like this one from CNC Router Parts:

Wheels are assembled into a Bogie and then mounted to the plate. Tension is adjusted with a screw and then the bogie is locked in place with a couple of bolts. The version in the video is a complex machined part BUT you can make one out of wood or ALU angle. Its not that complicated and it should reduce the cost of the machine. $26 in Eccentric spacers buys a lot of MDF and basic bolts.

I have most of the parts for my OX build. At a stand still right now. I need the GT2 1/4" bore pulleys. Anybody have suggestions where else these can be found? :banghead:

Thank you very much. Looks like just what I need. But WOW did you check the price? $12 each. Will cost $48 for four pulleys. :jawdrop:

Yes indeed, I will wait lol and keep looking as shipping just makes the price worse :(

I have two pulleys I scored at the junk shop but don't know what they are any ideas how I can go about this ?

On Pulleys ... I plan to drill out 5mm to 1/4 inch but will not get to it for a month or so, maybe others will be in the store by then ... seems there should be enough metal in them for this enlargement.

Need a bit of help ... anyone else cutting these plates have any problems with the size of the holes being too small for 5 mm bolts and eccentric spacers? Best way to calibrate and fix? Do I need to change the bit size (seems mine may be undersized or is cutting undersize) before I set the inside cut lines?

IF the files came from Mark he probably uses a 1/8" bit which is 3.2mm. Are you using a 3mm bit?

I bought a 1/8" bit ... but have not measured it. I did play around with bit size in the setting, but did not seem to have effect ... which is why I wondered if I need to erase and redraw inside cuts after I change the bit size setting? Holes and slots are just a bit too small, I can enlarge them, but then seems I lose the benefit of CNC milling!

you do need to redraw the cut lines after changing bit size.
measure that bit to be sure, and do some test cuts on scrap to figure out what is wrong before cutting a whole panel.

Thought I would share my first project I'm working on. It's a mini for quad frame that's cut from G10. Did a great job. Only problem I'm having is the holes are a little oblong. But the machine right now is only 1 hundredths of an inch out not bad just need to do some more tuning.

Thanks, good advice which I will now follow .... live and learn! Maybe I will try another color, I am getting tired of black.

Nice job! @Mopar32985  Maybe you could make a water pan to cut that G10 in so that the dust cannot escape. Something as simple as a tray with foam glued to the bottom as the spoiler. then double sided tape for the g10 and a little water. May be easier just to go with a good vac unit ;)

Could I use 5/16" all thread for the Z axis on the OX build? What is everyone else using?

I think my routy is using 5/16" allthread. Works great with no microstepping. Just get a very straight piece.

Thank you. I think I'll give it a try. If it doesn't work ~ lesson learned and move on. I'm hoping the parts store will soon stock all the parts one needs for this build.

@GrandpawB, allthread works and is inexpensive but has the drawback that you need a nut that is connect to the part that is moving. That nut has to have as little backlash as possible. No backlash is ideal. Using a good timing belt is nearly backlash free out of the box. On a z axis you can get away with a bit of backlash, if you don't do 3D carving. On the x and y axis' you have to have no backlash (most software have can compensate for it but it's not ideal).

Thank you. Bought my materials this morning. Local hardware wanted $1o each for the bearings! Got my OX 90 percent finished. Still need to order my Z axis step motor from Geckodrive.com and mount it. I absolutely can not get the play out of the Y axis no matter how much I adjust the eccentrics.:banghead: Grrr.

I found that for MY motors, 6.5 mm drill bit was a better fit.
