pic32MZ EF 100 pin 200Mhz sbc, mcp 2221 or mcp 2200 serial link + usb direct, 24Mhz osc, power supply with pcb or TO-220 regulator for high temp/voltage, tested and works ok.

Simple sbc/breakout for pic32mx470 or pic32mx795 100 pin 14mm, has icsp, mcp2200 usb serial link + usb direct + power supply, final sn-5x. Tested and works ok, maybe add heatsinking.
[ No guarantees whatsoever - use at your own risk only :) ] Pic24 and dsPic 100 pin ic’s would probably work as well. [This was the precursor to Pic32 MZ version sn-7x which is working as prototype.]

Update of previous mu-2b [ sbc pic32mx170b + usb-serial ]
Tested and works well. Small slide switch added, switches picmx serial input to ground, ie sets auto-run for standalone use. Silkscreen updated.

A single board with a pic32mx170 mcu (sdip), mcp2200 usb/serial link using A4/B4 for serial io, simple power supply, B0-15 pins and A0, A1 in approximate arduino template. The prototype design (mu-2p) for the copper/solder mask worked well, this version mu-2b updates the silkscreen layers and very small copper changes (not specifically tested yet).
