TVA Thermopads from EMC Technology are microwave absorptive attenuators that provide power dissipation that varies with temperature. These surface-mount temperature variable attenuator operate from DC to 6 GHz and require no bias or control voltages and generate zero distortion. They are available with various metallization styles and plating options including wire-bondable gold finish, RoHS-compliant lead-free silver over nickel plating, Sn60Pb40 low temperature solder plating, or Sn60Pb40 solder fused finish for easy reflow processing.

The attenuators have a VSWR of 1.3:1 and can handle up to 2 watts of power. They have a temperature coefficient of attenuation (TCA) Tolerance of ±0.001 dB/dB/°C. Both negative and positive TCA options are available. Thermopads with negative TCA are ideal for amplifier gain compensation over temperature.  Thermopads with positive TCA can be used in fault detection and circuit protection applications.

The TVA Thermopads are available in a compact 3.10mm x 3.68mm [0.122in x 0.145in] surface mount package.
