@Robert Hummel when ordering acrylic panels for the walls and door how do you know if it will provide the proper protection?

I don't know for sure if the red really protects and that is why I always have my eye wear on when operating it.
I do how ever know that all scattered light that I had before is now gone after adding the side panels
I simply went with the darkest red because Red absorbs 445nm light

Ok I will make sure everyone has a pair then.

Yes please do, for the cost it's not worth the risk. I have seen 2 pair kits for $20 on ebay

Well I got my Diode in today. Hope it is good, I was not very impressed with the packing.

That's how mine was packed as well and I was not very happy with it either, but these little buggers look tough so all should be good. :)

    Hi guys,

Please excuse me chiming in here, it's just a heads-up...

When constructing or experimenting with diode laser control circuits many have found that the 'lasorb' has been proven to be well worth the investment in protecting the relatively expensive diode laser from ESD and associated surges etc. http://www.lasorb.com/

    Just a thought.

@Robert Hummel Do you see a need for this on your controller design? Also did you get a chance to check the clearance on the screws?

I have not damaged a diode to date but it's always good to be safe then sorry.
I always use an ESD strap when working with my electronics

I did find a screw and it's a close fit, with out taking things apart to really test fit it I can't say for sure :/ and the screw is to long to try

    ok thanks for trying.

Any pointers for get the racking (side to side movement) out? Also my wheels don't turn feely.
    Thanks

Man a video would be great but if your wheels are locking that could be the source of the issue. You might loosen them up and get some lock tight to keep them from coming loose.
  21. Woodie49

    Woodie49 Journeyman Builder

When I loosen them up I get more racking.

    Are you using Eccentric Spacers?
  23. Woodie49

    Woodie49 Journeyman Builder

No, the plates I got from Robert have oblong holes in them.

If you have used 2 motors on your Y axis your raking is coming from the setup.
If you used 1 motor then that's the issue.
Another thing thang can cause it is the belt being to tight post dome pics or a video so I can see just what it is your having issues with

If you need help setting things up let me know.
A lot of info is located in the controller section of the forum for reference.

Oni305's software is awesome and the Inkscape plug-ins listed in the build work well

    Freakin laser beams! :p

Please take cation! You only have one set of eyes, while setting it up or any time there in power to your laser have them glasses on.
